Another yard sale find....I came across two vacuform gargoyles for $5 bucks and decided they would make great embellishments for a new sign for my little home haunt. The design on the bottom is a little stylized dragon, it's sort of difficult to tell from the picture. This is just made from the cheap beaded foam stuff, which I feel is highly underrated.

Thank you! I was wondering if anyone would say anything. I know my work pales in comparison to some but you have to start somewhere!

The gargoyle WAS a good find....

I have that gargoyle. I bought him for something and he was too big for the spot. I paid much more than $5 for just one, so you did get a great buy!. It's made of flimsy plastic, and hollow in back, but fairly well detailed. I have been thinking of filling the back with Great Stuff and using it as a mold. It would be nice if it worked. What do you think?

i am trying my hand (again) at a few tombstones and I am using the cheap beaded foam for the first two as kind of a "learning material" before I buy the $30.00 per sheet pink/blue stuff. What did you finish yours off with? It looks like you have a pretty good stone look to it and I'm curious what route you went.

    thanks in advance,

    Thanks again everyone...

PC, I was thinking about making a mold out of my 2nd gargoyle too! Another friend of mine who has an elaborate home haunt said he'd like to see 20 of these guys lining a corridor all with different sayings. Sounded good to me!!

DK, I'm not sure what you mean by finishing it off but I used a word burning tool to do my lettering. I think the white beaded foam is vastly underrated by many in the haunting community. There's just so much you can do with it. And if you're not doing a ton of carving, I think it works just fine. Below is a pic of one of myfirst stones which I also made completely out of beaded white foam. People seemed to like this one as much, if not more, than the ones I made out of the "blue stuff". (sorry the picture quality isn't great...this one looks much better in person).

Some people are doing absolutely ah-mazing work with polystyrene! Check out the link below...I LOVE this guy's stuff!!! Incredible!
