So I have been planning our Halloween/Hubby's 40th Birthday for months, and decided to cancel it about three weeks ago due to personal reasons. We have just decided that the party is back on, which means I have exactly 20 days from today to pull this off.
One of the things I had planned on doing is making our two car garage into a blacklight room, by using a projector to paint scenes using fluorescent paint on roll paper attached to the walls. I now don't have the time to do that and am wondering if anyone knows of or has used any blacklight reactive scene setters. I saw a few on ebay that read "should glow in the dark". Not sure I want to drop a bunch of cash on something that may or may not work.
Any input is greatly appreciated!

i'm also curious if anyone knows of any as well
haven't seen any, though i really haven't done a search
maybe you could enhance the scene setters with fluorescent paint? might be a pain getting good enough paint coverage as the paint will tend to bead, (which might be a good thing), on the plastic thus requiring multiple coats?

Terra, you do such outstanding work! Anything store bought doesn't hold a candle to what you have created...when I grow up I want to be like you!

I found a few of them online, but they are either sold out or too small/cheesey/expensive...etc.
I think I can still do the whole blacklight thing on a smaller scale, maybe with some store bought glow in the dark webs, rit whitened ripped cheescloth, tonic water, etc...
Anyone got any simple ideas for making a killer blacklight room on such a short time frame?

Oh, I think you are right on the money with the cheesecloth all over the place. Have it hanging down in waves with the edges torn would give the room an ethereal look.

OOOOH TERRA! What kind of light is the green? Do you think the cheesecloth was coated in a reactive paint?!! Ack. I want to do this.

If your looking for some quick, cheap items that are made more for beverages and the party part of it, check out GlowBarSupplies.com - The stuff like the neon jager Cups, Shot Glasses, Serving Trays, etc ALL glow nicely with a black-light. Not glow in dark, but glows nice with blacklight!

Not sure. Saw it on the web. My guess is it's just a DMX light set to that green color. But it kind of shows what I think draped cheesecloth dipped in the stuff that makes it glow would look like under a lot of blacklight. I've seen this done at weddings and they just use white cloth and colored lighting to give this look.
Ooh, ooh - yeah great idea too! Also, you can add draped-in fluorescent ribbon all over the place. Could look like cool spider webs? http://www.blacklight.com/items/SWR80 They have other stuff like this.

Not sure how fancy you'd like to go, but why not hang white sheets on the walls of the garage. Use the big fluorescent shop lights with black light tubes in them. They put out a ton of light, easy to hang, cheap. Then create your "scene" in reverse, by taping/glueing decorative paper or cut-outs to the sheets. This would essentially create a shadow or blacked-out scene against the white of the black light. Cut out ghosts, hang plastic spiders, etc.
Just a thought. Happy Haunting"What's this? What's this? There's magic everywhere!"

I have done a few blacklight setups before. One really cool thing I like is to fill bottles or jars with water and find some neon markers or high lighters that glow under the light. I then just pull the ink out and stick it in the water and let it sit for abit. take it out cap the jar and throw some eyeballs in it or gummie worms and poof you have something cool. Just a thought. Note: not all high lighters will glow. I think the ones I found that work the best I got at the dollar store.
Hope this helps
