Hi. I am soliciting ideas on how to attach my 3-axis lindberg skull to my bucky skeleton. The Lindberg skull has a threaded rod coming down maybe 5 inches, and the bucky has a thick metal rod that goes up through its own skull. I figure I will have to cut the rod coming out the the bucky, but I still want to be able to reattach its skull. What have you guys done?

I cut the rod that runs through it's spine. I then put my threaded rod from my 3axis down thru the hole in the middle of the spine (right next to the original). I clamped the threaded rod to the original rod.
There is no way to reattach the Bucky's original head. The original rod coming from the bucky's spine is bent at an angle. Make sure you retain this angle, no matter what method you use, or the skull won't sit naturally on the body. I bent my threaded rod (purposely) to make it sit naturally.

Funny you mentioned this....I even thing a few years back there was a pictorial or description of doing this..... I need to do the same, i will either cut & thread the large rod or cut the large rod & epoxy on a long threaded nut extension then I can screw on my 3AS or with a threaded rod stock, be able to re attach the old / original Bucky skull back on.
If I get to that in the next few day or find the link form that thread I'll post it. ( heck it could even be in the original 3AS thread lost within the thousands of posts that we had in it from Halloweenbob when he started it....loL )When you look in the mirror at midnight,....what looks back at you.........

A coupling nut, and then put threads on the rod that is cut, that match the threads on the 3-axis skull, sounds like the way to go. I wonder if any of the local big box home improvement stores sell coupling nuts.

Coupling nut....thanx I was having a brain fart.......& I use those all the time..Lol Yes I get them from any home depot, lowes, ace, orchard,etc..... they are like cheap. Threading the stainless rod is a bit of a challenge,,, use a good thread cutter... or just epoxy it on the rod. Either way you can mount anything on it..........leave that to your imagination...LoL

This worked. I cut the rod in the Bucky until I had about 1 inch sticking up, put a vice grip at the bottom and then threaded the top with a 5/16x18. My 3axis is 1/4x20, but that was too small to work on the bucky. So I bought a 1/4x20 coupler and drilled and tapped half to be 5/16x18 and put them all together and it looks good. Thanks for all your help.
