Anyone have picture or link for an armature that will raise skleton straight up and not allow unwanted rotation to left right? I am using a 12" stroke 1.5" bore cylinder. I have looked but most of what I find are finished prop and I would like to see the anti rotation component.
Thank you,
Todd

Todd,
What is your starting position? Do you want it to be laying down or sitting down? Do you have space behind the prop?
I could design an easy to assemble 4 bar mechanism for you that would do what you're looking for.

The easiest way, though a more expensive way, is to use an air cylinder that has a hex piston rod. Another way is to us e guide rods or rod that attaches to the prop and have a guide plate with holes slightly larger than the rods mounted on the cylinder mounts or somewhere where it will be stable. If you're using this in a sit up application I woiuld think that you would need to hinge the rods so they follow the raiseing and lowering of the cylinder.

Thank you for the responses, let me try clarify:
This is going to raise a skeleton torso straight up from behind an open casket lid. I invisioned simply mounting the cylinder straight up and welding a bracket to attach the torso. This unit will then be mounted to a base bracket that will bolt under the bottom of the casket.
I need to assure that the torso stays in the same verticle alignment with lid and does not try to rotate, so I am probably going to need some time of alignment rod/rods.
Hope this makes sense.
Thank you again,
Todd
