I have a covered porch with columns about 6 feet apart which I place a large DIY spider web.. In the past I've made spider webs from the "free" tie down string from Lowe's/Home depot. I have a 4' black light fixture on the porch behind the spider web, but the web sort of gets lost. Is there an easy way to make the string glow? I thought about soaking it with laundry soap but wouldn't that just wash off with the rain?

    thanks

Could you spray it with either flourescent paint or glow-in-the-dark paint?

Are you aware of white glow in the dark paint, everything seems to be green. I guess blue would be cool too.

You can try the Flourescent paints. I'm using it on my skeleie's this year. I picked up some of those spiral black uv lights from Lowe's last year and they work great. I tried one this year in my fcg in an 8' enclosed crypt and it glowed great! I'll most likely use them on my skeleie's too.

I would wet them down, to get the dew drops effect.

Maybe even get some glitter, and VERY sparingly sprinkle some on the web.

You can soak it in this Mrs. Stewart's Liquid Bluing . This will help it floures.

I'd go with the fluorescent spray paint. Even if it has a greenish tint, your web will still look amazing under the black light!

We use the white spider webs in the package. The key is to pull it very thin. Ours covers about an 8' by 10' area from the roof gutter to the sidewalk. We backlight it with a strobe light place at the bottom and aimed up preferrably at an angle. Hope it works for you.

So by accident I found a solution. I used the "free" rope from lowels and used hot glue to hold the knots in place. That night I noticed the hot glue was glowing so I went back out and added small beads to the web, it looks pretty cool almost like dew drops, toxic glowing dew drops.... perhaps that why the spider got so big..

If you have the patience you can go back and paint some of the globs green or blood red so they really show in the day too.
