Ok, so we are doing a carnival/sideshow haunt this year, and I was looking over hallowindow. I noticed that they sell the individual "theme" downloads, so I was thinking this:
place a king size white flat sheet over the FRONT of my garage door (staple gun it to the wooden frame of our single car garage door). This way, it doesn't interfere with the garage door opening. I will then have the projector set up INSIDE the garage (we aren't sure we want to put the expensive projector outside and risk our cold weather). This will allow us to keep the projector safe from the elements, safe from theft, and still be able to easily project the show with quick set up every night....think this would work? I want to download Hallowindow's "funhouse" and loop it continuously, then I can have the "ride" element that our lawn haunt is too small to portray![]()
thoughts on if you think this would work? thanks a bunch!

Hallowindows came out two years ago I think and many here including myself have purchased and used it. There should be a few threads you might want to check out for tips and how people used theirs. I know people also posted videos of it in use. Hallowindows was designed to be rear projected so the projector inside your garage with the screen at the garage door position will work. I think you will be happier with the results using a vinyl shower curtain (white) as the screen material than a sheet. Most of us took the recommendation of someone on here who suggested using a Walmart shower curtain, cheap and yielded an evenly projected picture. Again, more on this in the threads. Also suggestions on using the projector. Try a forum search for Hallowindow.
I used my Hallowindow DVD on an interior window area on the second floor facing the street. It was a hit with the neighborhood. I've considered the carnival theme one for use when I do my zombie carnival theme. Our windows inside don't have any moulding on them so I built a really large frame using window screen framing, two Walmart shower curtains (our window arrangement hid the seam between the two), and used screening spline and tools to press the shower curtain material into the frame. Held it taught and was easy to disassemble when done. A two person job if the screen is large. Just a note of caution if you go the garage door opening route--consider the effects of wind if you encounter wind in the evening in your area. We get pretty windy during the fall and unfortunately our main garage faces the direction of the evening winds so I elected to run our "show" from an inside room and avoided the wind issues altogether.

I think it will work fine. I have all of HW & this year doing a twisted carny theme. The download clip is just the ride entry, the full movie download has the same, but with the effect that you are going into & thru the ride. I am setting up a basic rocking platform with 4 seats like a ride car & sitting people in front of screen. I edited clip of just that section of full movie so they will feel like they are going thur it. The visual illusion plus the rocking platform should do it. It's a just under a min, but I'm planning on editing it to stretch it bit.....
& if you need any creepy / twisted carny music or effects, PM me I have a bunch for ya.When you look in the mirror at midnight,....what looks back at you.........

thanks for the thoughts! I don't think wind would be a problem, as I'm planning to fully staple the sheet taught around the garage door. a shower curtain I don't think would be big enough or long enough to fully cover the garage door
Dark Lord...thanks for the info~! I may just buy the full one and edit it down, it's just to give the quick effect of a ride, so maybe the opening sequence will be enough, it's just a little something I need to add the "ride" feel, as I don't have space for an actual ride haha
I'm excited to experiment though
