I have some beam breaks that only have 3 wires, brown, blue and black. Is it possible to use them to replace a 2 wire mat switch? If so, how do I wire it? I used blue and brown and got power to it, but I'm at a loss how only 1 black wire can trigger a prop (at least I didn't get it working). Any help? Thanks

The black wire usually goes to the "load". What brand is it? Usually the black wire would go to an input on a controller. Check to see if there is any voltage coming from the black wire when the beam is broken.

Spin, it isnt triggering from one black wire. It is using a common ground, meaning the negative for the power side is also the negative for the trigger side.
