Hey guys, I got a wiper motor recently and im trying to get it running. I have an old AC adapter from an old laptop and thats what im using to try and power the motor. Im not too sure how to wire it up. Ive attached some pictures of the motor and power supply. There is continuity between the top two prongs on the motor and there is continuity between the bottom two. The bottom two seem to be grounded. If I attach one lead of the power supply to the ground and the other end to either of the top two prongs nothing happens, If I attach the power to the top two prongs the motor pulses but very slowly. The voltage pulses between 0-2V, it reads around 15V then not connected. I dont have an extra PC power supply so Im lost and need help!

Wiper motors can be tricky. I got one from a guy on line and hooked it up, it didn't work at all. To say the least it was left on his front yard the next day, no damage was done. I purchased a good one from Monsterguts.com with power pack, couldn't be happier. The prongs on yours of what I can see could be a concern. Make sure they are clean and have a solid connection to the unit. It is sometimes trial and error with the prongs as to which ones, hooked up together will keep the motor on all the time. The power supply you have looks good enough too.

do you know what it was from, make of car. Once you get that you can get wiring diagram. I am wondering if that might be a delay controllor with the connections you could cut the wires that go right to the motor and try these, that would be my suggestion if you dont have wiring diagram.

Thats an ac power supply right? (ac output)

you need an ac/dc power supply (dc output)
Ground one line to the housing, and connect your other line to one of the pin's (one will be high, one low. the other 2 won't work.)
you can connect one line to the housing and just touch the the pin's with the other bare wire till you find out which one works.
had the same motor and like you said, connecting to just the pin's the motor pulses. I think it's out of a mazda.

Hey guys, I picked up a pc power supply and now im having headaches with that! ARRGG!! Lol, The power supply is running fine but when I connect the motor, the power supply stops. I can disconnect the motor and restart the power supply and it works fine! Does this have something to do with a load resistor ive read about? Thanks for the help!

Im hooking my motor up to any black and the yellow +12V, or red +5V, is this right?

This is what I would do...not use the prongs at all.

Do you have a set of jumper cables? If not take a drop cord (electric cord) and strip off wire on each end and separate the wires and use that . Next cut the wires on the motor where they meet the little case with the prongs. The wire connected to the motor with a bolt is your ground...one of the other two wires should be low speed and the other high.

Now take the motor outside and use the jumper cables and your car battery and connect the ground to the bolt head with the ground wire and the hot to either of the other two wires. The rest I want you to use the battery and jumper cable..if it grounds out you won't hurt the battery but you could blow your power supply.

I used many many many wiper motors over the past 13 years and everyone came from the junk yard and off really older model cars (got them cheaper that way) and I can't remember one going bad on me and I ALWAYS bypassed the case with the prongs and hooked directly to the wires coming out of the motor.
