Thread: question on mold makeing

Hey all

was wondering if any one might have a answer for me on a problem im haveing.



Desided i wanted to make some skulls and bones from scratch. for molds i am going to be buy a bunch of the those plastic skelletons that are hollow ... cut off the back side of the bones and you have a mold,,,



for the casting material i was thinking of useing eather that foam inslation in a can oor that shreaded paper insulation mixed with a rezin ,, pack eather into the plastic skelleton and let dry..



My problem is though how do i get the molds off with out tearing them to shread.. want to be able to reuse them so i can mass produce the skelleton parts for projects.. was thinking of useing mabey baby powder, coat this inside of the mold with it before packing the material in,, but dont know if that would work???



I do know when the make laytex mask and such they coat the molds with something so the mask will come loose of the molds when they dry but i dont know what it is,, or if it would work with eather of the 2 materials i want to use..



Any one have any ideas ?

Try Pam cooking spray, or petroleum jelly.

Chop got it use the jelly its cheap and will do the job.
