I have a Rosco 1900. It came with a remote dmx controller. I would like to replace it with a timer type dmx controller. Witch ones would be compatible. The plug is round with 3 pins in a triangle formation. Thank you.

I would call Rosco and find out what timers are compatible with your machine. Not every remote manufacturer wires the pins the same, and I'd be concerned with shorting something or voiding your warranty. And yes, they do that to force you into buying parts and accessories from them.

I ask because I have already priced out the correct timer. It is a cool $250. That is why I ask. Best fogger I have ever worked with though. So I may drop the coin just for that reason alone. I figured someone would have figured out a work around for the unit. Thank you for your reply.

If that timer is $250 I'm guessing it does more than just on and off. I'd be hesitant to plug a no name timer into a nice fogger like you have. I'm not familiar with the specifics of that machine, but if both styles of remotes are DMX, then its more than just an on/off trigger signal on those pins. If the machine is expecting a DMX signal on those pins and it just gets voltage, you could fry something important.

Looking at the rosco website, it seems to imply that the standard remote comes with the unit and the DMX is extra. Maybe you can talk to them or your local dealer and see about getting a "standard" remote from them as a replacement?

"The remote control, standard equipment for the Model 1900, is stored on the machine and comes with a 15 foot cable. An optional DMX control (the same as that used with the Model 1700) is available so that the 1900 can be easily operated from a lighting control console. The Model 1900 accepts the same standard hose adaptor and ducting hose as all other Rosco machines."

That's a nice machine looking at the specs though. With an MSRP of over $800 it makes sense that the remotes would be expensive. The site states that you can control up to 4 machines with the 3 pin connector, so that tells me there is some digital addressing on that plug.

Sounds like a great machine though.

I have a 1700 also. That has the timer I'm looking for. I may check into just getting a dmx controller to control both machines from one point. I have been saving up for a delta 6000. I have a rather large front yard. So I need the cfm of smoke to get that erie feeling. That machine is worth the money by far.
