I feel a bit silly posting this because I am certain there are those of you in the forum who are going to tell me that you've been using this idea for years, but it's new to me, and I think it's too fantastic to not share: Instead of using ice cubes in a fog chiller, use frozen water bottles!
I stumbled across the idea on the internet today and I think it's a brilliant. Now, I can just buy a case or two of bottled water, freeze it in the garage fridge, and during the haunt, swap out bottles as necessary. I'm not sure if the best part is that I can refreeze and reuse, or is I won't have to deal with a soggy melted mess. Also, no more last minute trips to the gas station to buy bags of ice.
In addition to using the frozen water bottles in our new Cauldron Creep fog chiller this year, we're also going to use them on the PVC pipe that runs through our graveyard. Last year we had a styrofoam cooler between the fog machine and the pipe. This year the fog will get chilled all of the way through! I can't wait to test it out!

If you add salt to the water in the bottles, they stay frozen longer...

I've been doing this for several years, and I don't have to swap out nearly as many bottles.I'm a Halloween Bride! 10/31/2002

I stretch out a piece of metal dryer vent hose and fill it with bottles. Make sure and empty a little out of each bottle before you freeze to make room for expansion!
