I would look on e-bay or some of the sites listed here and get a real cylinder. If you look at the time and liabilty issues you would be better off. Just my thoughts.

The thing that always gets me about these things is that all those little fittings you need add up quickly.

My first pneumatic was made from one, but I don't recommend it. I ended up replacing mine with a real cylinder from ebay the following season. The pressure needed to just compress the internal spring made me nervous, and I didn't like having that much potential energy stored up in something that wasn't designed for it around children.

If you plan out what you want to do carefully you won't have to buy any more fittings than you need. There are also places where you can get quanity discounts. If you look at industrial supply companies you may find the prices are a lot cheaper.

I made my first tombstone popper with a screen door closer. It worked, but I don't recommend it. You can get cylinders at http://monsterguts.com/index.php?act=viewCat&catId=15 for under $20. Screen door closers are $12. Be safe and go with a real cylinder.

Not to mention that you still have to buy the brass fitting to screw into the storm door cylinder. I bought my cylinder from granger. It came with the ends fittings for connecting to the prop. Try harbor freight for any pneumatic fittings. Good luck.

Sorry, I meant the fittings needed for the door closer. By the time you add up all the costs you are better off buying a real cylinder.
