I'm working on my first life size dummy.... a butcher-sort of character for a small chop shop section of my yard haunt.
I started with a pvc body frame and then used chicken wire to give the body shape:
Here is a very rough draft of how the base will look:
Obviously, it still needs a lot of work, especially the arms/hands and the clothing need to be touched up. I will be adding a fast food/butcher hat too.
The one thing I'd like to get suggestions on is how to tackle the sides of the face and lower part of the back of the head. Because the mask I am using is not a full head mask.... I will need to handle these areas. The top of the head will be covered with the hat. The thing is, the dummy will only be seen from the front and not really from the sides and not at all from the back. I don't want to buy a wig..... will making some hair from layered brown fabric work? Any suggestions here?
Thanks!

Looks good so far!
How about covering the head under the mask with fabric or plastic shopping bags?
You can get them in so many different colors like green to look like the mask or maybe red/bloody look? keep it simple to give some color.
I'll be trying my first pvc body frame this year and I like the chicken wire you used for body filler.
Post a pic when it's complete, I would love to see your finished project.

Thanks guys!
Oh the plastic bag as a base for the head is a great idea! I've been working on it little by little each day as I have time, so he's coming along... I will post pictures once he's done and of course in his scene in my yard haunt!
Here he is as of today. Again, the plastic bag as a base for the head is genius! I'm sure no will will be able to make it out once he's complete and in in the darkness!

Q how would you make him stand? with out being knoked down by the wind or something? does he have shoes on?

Each of his legs have a PVC pipe running down. So, when ready, I will hammer 2 pieces of rebar rods into the ground with a portion sticking out. Then I will simply slide the PVC pipe legs onto the rebar to make him stand. Additionally, there will be a table with organs and limbs in front of him. So the table will provide additional support and hide his legs, so no shoes will be required.

So you inspired me and I whipped together a scarecrow with my 4 1/2 yr old son.
We used a feed bag for the head and made the face with marker.
He's friendly for now but as my lil guy gets older we'll change his disposition, lol.
I have no idea how to post pics here but thanks for yours as they were helpful,
I'm a visual learner, heh heh heh
