I have a new zombie mask Name: thumbnail.asp.jpg
Views: 33
Size: 8.3 KB that I'm going to put on a new groudbreaker this year. I've not done this before, so I'm sorry if this is an obvious question....

When mounting the mask onto one of those Styrofoam wig heads, how do you keep it from sliding out of position? Also, I have some LED lights I plan to insert into ping pong balls, then press those against the eye slits to give him glowing eyes. I don't want to glue that or damage the mask in the process. This will be a motorized prop, so there may be just a bit of shifting that occurs over the night.

I have some thoughts on how to do this, but I don't want to re-invent the wheel here if someone could share a technique they've used and liked.

    thx!

I normally just use hot glue to hold the eyes onto the wig head.
Then I put the mask on head and drive a few long wood screws into it under the hairline where it can't be seen.

One of my witch props is similar, but static. I mounted the ping-pong ball eyes to the wig head (some kind of glue, probably hotmelt, caulk, or Liquid Nails - can't remember) so they would stay in place, then I added some doublestick tape to the inside of the mask near the eye openings (to grab the ping-pong balls), then used pins with small round black heads to secure the mask to the wig head (and ensure the mask stays close to the eyes - presumes the tape won't weather well and will eventually let go). Do a dry-run without adhesives or the pingpong balls so you can mark where the mask's eye openings fall on the wig head; then drill holes for the pingpong balls; dry-run with the ping-pong balls (you may need to adjust the depth the balls recess into the wig head at this point); then put it together using the adhesives and pins. If needed for whatever reason, it can come apart again.
