I was lucky enough to discover a thread on one of the forums, not sure if it was this one, but someone suggested asking furniture stores for their packaging material to make body bags. Our setup is pretty large this year so we are happy to find any resource we can. One of our chief haunters wife works for a furniture store so we asked for materials and when we received them I was overjoyed.

We usually scour thrift shops and christian mission stores for robes, or any type of cloak looking items for our props but it's rare to find anything really good.

In the furniture packing trash we were given were huge round pieces of black very thin, but not see through, fabric lined with white gauze like material. The gauze is the same material a lot of lightweight hanging props are dressed in. We have two of them at the moment but hope to get more.

The material is so big that all we had to do was tear a hole in the center, drape it over a prop stand, add an inexpesive mask and wow, it looks amazing.

I'm kicking myself for not taking a picture but I will tomorrow and post it. There is enough fabric to reach the floor and cover a pretty tall prop and it's bulky enough that arms aren't really needed. Ours have arms and it looks good draped over them with bony white hands showing.

I wanted to post this so others might make use of something that is probably filling up a lot of landfills. It's a win win situation.

Sorry if someone else has posted about this already, I wasn't sure exactly what to search for when I was checking to see.

This is new to me. Thank you for sharing it and I look forward to seeing the pictures of the material. My wife works at a place that uses lots of cheese cloth and she has someone in maintenance nabbing a huge roll for us

photos I took today of the props with the furniture material. We have a matching pair of these guys. They will probably be sentinals guarding the mausoleum that our main storyline character is buried in. I'm thinking one will be a prop the other will be a real person.

Ooooh very cool. I may have to see if any of the stores here would be generous with donating this stuff.
