I have just started my first prop at long last, I am in the process of corpsing a skull with liquid latex and wool. I would like to know if it would be better to paint the finished prop directly with acrylic paint, or would it be better to add the paint to liquid latex as I go along?.

You can wait until the end, and use a 50/50 mix of latex and acrylic paint thinned a bit with either ammonia, or water (if needed). Thats a base coat mix I often use for masks. When you wait, you can do what called a rub out, which is paint on your base coat in sections, then before it dries, begin to rub areas off (like high spots maybe) re- exposing the natural latex (subtlely) to give it a more organic look. then, if you wanted, you could tint some of those rubbed out areas with a wash of color, just to add realism. You gotta experiment with this technique and you'll probably catch on to it.

You can also use stains at the end (instead of all that ^^)..alot of people use those too.

Lots of ways to do it really..I'm sure you'll hear some more today.
