A few weeks back I got some of those orange Gothcha skeletons for a steal due to their defective paint. Anyway, I decided to try my hand at the plastic drop cloth/heat gun corpsing method after painting the skeletons white. With the painting, drop cloth plastic shrink wrapping, then finish staining/painting, it took me a grand total of about an hour worth of work, and for an investment of about $50, I have this. I'll be making a second one later this week!

Glad to see someone here on the forum tried the Stiltbeast plastic sheet and head gun corpsing.

Great job. How do you score a discount gotcha skelly? I didn't see a clearance link on the nightfire site.

Thanks, y'all!
Yup, got them from HalloweenAsylum (who I thank very much!). I'm also going to do this on a smaller skeleton, one of the little 2 foot guys that I got on clearance from Wally World last year for a buck. Then my corpses will have a mini-me! This is definitely my new, most favorite technique for doing these things. For the full skeleton, it took less than one of the Dollar Tree plastic drop cloths.Guns kill people... just like spoons made Rosie O'Donnell fat.

So I'm thinking of making one of these guys sometime this week, will that be enough time for them to dry? I was really hoping to do the nylon/latex adhesive method but it looks like Halloween is creeping up and there really isn't any time.
what color color/stain did you use, and was it a gel stain?
This will be my first time making a skelly so I'm hoping to find out as much detail as I can.
Thanks!

Honestly, mine were dry within an hour. I've used both gel stains and water based stains doing these guys. The trick is to keep your heat gun going while staining, warm the plastic, brush on the stain, warm again. This will help the stain bond to the plastic to avoid flaking. As for the color of stain, the one in this thread was done with walnut gel stain. I've done a few others with rosewood water based stain and it's also a fantastic color option. I like the darker colors. Having done the latex method in the past... the plastic method wins hands down when it comes to bodies for me.
