I'm trying to build a character (I'm in the development stage) that has a exposed heart on his chest. I want it to light up and beat with sound. I'm willing to settle with just a light-up heart, but I don't want it to be color changing. I was thinking as a last resort I could get the color changing one for $9.99 at Spirit Halloween and replace the multi color light with a single red or clear LED. As I was writing, I just now got an idea. I could replace the lights with alternating wight and red to give an impression of a beating heart. Would that work, or does anyone know of a better idea?

If you want the heart to actually beat then use a deer motor. You can take it out of the housing and the motor becomes about half the size but still has the shaft to connect to.

If you decide to go this way I can work up the linkage a video on how to do it.

That video was exactly what I was hoping for. When I get a chance I'll have to experiment using the foam. Any idea where I can get a chip that makes the LEDs alternate like his did?
