I want to build a mini (well, taller than me and my hubby, but not full scale haha) swing of the century so I can feature a "ride" in our carnival/sideshow theme...anyone know of a how-to or step by step for this? I wouldn't even know where to BEGIN! please help me!

Wow, where to begin. I can see mini's bucky's on small chain swings. The new Midnight Syndicate album carnival arcane will provide a great sound track.
You're a good friend, but if zombies chase us, I will trip you.

A swing of the century is the big swings that they have at the carivals that each person sits in their own chair and they spin around up in the air, dangling from chains.
They actually have a swing of the century at our local Spirit Halloween for the zombie babies. It's pretty cool.I wish everyone was as kind as creepycathy!

Yeah we had one in Duluth when the carnaval came to town when I was a child. The chains broke on two chairs, and splatted the two people against a brick wall at very high speeds and about 3 floors up. Both died. I would NEVER get on one of those.
If you are going to make it work, I would go with a very large open space and use a very heavy duty faster motor so you can get those blucky's moving. lol

well, I just want it to be about eight feet tall (we don't have a lot of space, with maybe five little plastic kids lawn chairs or the fisher price kids swings hanging from it. It's just meant to be a little "carnival ride" prop, so it doesn't have to be huge or fast, just want it to rotate slowly so you can get the idea of what it is? Not sure if that makes sense...what would be the best way to do that? and what type of motor would I need to run something like that? can it be done for cheap?
as for the one at spirit for the babies, are they for sale???

A wiper motor would probably work as long as you keep the swinging weight down. They are also very easy to set up: just attach the two wires from a wall wart to the wires on the motor. You wouldn't even need to bother with any linkage since it's a circular motion you're going for.
