Hi guys. Ok, I have absolutely NO IDEA when it comes to lighting. I'm talking basics here. I've never had lights of any type outdoors, not even regular ones. I'm going to be doing a very small cemetary in my back yard (I have a very small back yard) and I obviously need it to be lit so people can see the display. The trouble is, I don't know anything about lighting. For instance, I don't even know how lights work. It seems that most of them have to be plugged into the mains. Isn't this dangerous? I mean, this is England, I'm 98% sure it's going to rain here on Hallowe'en. If I run an extension out to the yard from my kitchen, and water gets into one of the lights/into the wiring, won't this potentially A) start a small fire B) short out all the lights, inside and out?
I'm really worried about safety, and like I said know absolutely NOTHING about lighting. Any help/advice you guys could give a n00b would be massively appreciated, thank you.

Battery operation sounds like the best option for you, IMO. I know about the same amount as you do when it comes to wiring though. I would go with LED spot lights. There are a few threads on that topic. Do a quick search on the forum for titles only, see if there's anything there to help.
