well after reading loads and loads on everyone else pumpkin head scarecrows, I decided we should have one this year.Last year was just masks and capes on wooden frames. they looked ok but now we have decided we need to turn up the heat a bit lol.
I guess it's around 20" tall and started off life as a black binliner full of shredded paper for my mold.. a few layers of mache then hubby decided to use some of his old bridging filler, which is like fibreglass reinforced filler. it was just laying about from some old repair jobs.
A few layers of fibreglass later and a quick sand down and I've finally started to layer the paint on it.I hope to have it finished painted tomorrow. well apart from Hubby having to wire in the red leds inside the head. then just need to start the frame for it..
The bigger pumpkin in the picture will be a table centre piece with lights inside with a big pointed hat on.
Hubby will upload more piccies tomorrow![]()

Wahaha he looks GREAT! Little bit Pumpkinrot-ish. I love his big jagged grin, he looks wayyy menacing. If I was a TOT I'd be wary of walking past him!
Can't wait to see the rest.

well I have finished painting the head now and it just requires a sealer coat. I have decided that the scarecrow which is yet to be named is going to have hessian/burlap hands so they have been my mission today.we hope to get the main structure up todayy so I can fit the hands and test fit his head then start dressing it. not sure wether we are going along the ribcage route yet.
The larger pumpkin in the photo is my next project which is a static feature and is goign to be based around a witch. I like the texture from using the glass fibre filler..
Hope to have some more photos up later today which is probably going to be the middle of the night for most of you lol

well the weather beat us in the end today but at least we got his hands finished and the basic frame built. just started to do his ribcage and then the heavens opened so those pictures will have to wait untill tomorrow. He stands around 10 foot tall..hope to finish the ribs tomorrow and start dressing him...

we can tell allready where we can improve it for next year. After this one is finished I am making a hunched old over old witch using my other pumpkin head.
But that as they say, is another thread, but give me time to start it before u look lol

well today has been better weather cool and windy but no rain... so I made a start on sorting out him out a set of ribs which were made just like the nahds with twisted wire covered in foam then burlap to finish. these have been packed with leaves and twigs, but we will need to fetch some more to fill the cavity. We are then going to fill it with flicker tea lights so it looks like it's burning...
next I made a start what he was going to be wearing. As the base we used an old grim reaper style gown which was ripped up to make it blow in the wind. the first 2 photos show it not ripped. I think tearing it up was a good idea.. made some shoulders with wire and foam to give him some more form.. I still have to bulk him out some more and then cover him with shredded old torn black nylon material like the gown.
So far so good... I hope to have it finished this week. But it's back to work tomorrow after 2 weeks off. boohoo :(took a phot of him next to hubby to show you the size and hubby is 6 foot 1..
I will keep this updated as and when I get some more on him done.
we are contemplating sitting a crow on one of his shoulders
We think we are going to call him Scarrow..

looks good, you know I stated saving a few steps by using blue shop towels for $1.29 at ACE (on sale this week) AND using latex paint of the color I wanted as my stuff and boy it cuts down on the amount of layers and makes it tough. Just causes more of a mess though,
Dan
