I need to build a gas pump and was wondering if anyone here has ever made one. What would be the best material to make it out of? I am thinking along the lines of the older style pumps (like a 50's). I love the character of that style.I will try to post a pic. My main problem is where to get or how to make the nozzle.Any thoughts???? Thanks for the help!!

This is obviously the crash course, in a nut shell pic.

But it would be an easy way to fasion a gas nozzle.

you could also use a few cpvc unions (45's t's etc) and heat bend cpvc pipe for the nozzle, hand guard and trigger.

I saved this image in my computer a couple of years ago but can't remember which site I saw it on. Wish I could remember so I could give the builder proper credit.

I think for the tank itself, your best bet would be either cardboard (if you're looking for quick and cheap), or foam/wood (same concept as columns). For the handle of the pump, I'd consider making it out of foam. With a 2" thick piece of scrap blue foam, you could easily trace the shape of the handle onto the foam, cut it out, and sand it round. Then stick a piece of 1" PVC into the handle (nozzle), and run a garden hose (painted black) for the gas hose. I think with a little bit of work, you could easily replicate a very realistic looking gas pump.
