I'm doing a spider theme this year and I want to make some giant webs. I'm talking webs that stretch from the ground up to the second floor (so 16 to 24 ft).

There was a thread that talked about a butcher's clothe or something that was used for big webs. Does anyone remember that thread?

Anyway, I want to use something that will last a bit longer than the little bags of stretch webbing.

I'm open to all ideas, so please pour out your thoughts!

I would use heavy thead, I mean heavy. Once they are in place with the criss cross throughout then use a a web gun to cover lightly or heavy dpending on your taste. Easy to do and easy to take down.

I don't know the thread, but you are talking about beef tubing. http://www.trentonmills.com/halloween_spiderwebs.htm

I don't have any experience with it myself.

I don't know the answer for sure, but cheesecloth is not really stretchy. Maybe it's something more along the lines of tulle?

    No.

It's stretchy, usually only in 1 direction. Think of it like a thick nylon sock...

(no experience with it for halloween, for it's intended use, that's another subject)

I THINK it's the same as ham netting/ham tubing (which is easier to find sources for/smaller qty/cheaper), but haven't ever done a side by side.

I use old fishing cast nets, they are the perfect shape and strong. Some of them glow under black light, depending on the monofilament line used to make it.

There was (I believe it to be) cheese cloth used to rather good effect in the 1960 version of The Lost World. Might be worth watching on Hulu...
