I have learned a lot on this site and thought it was about time to upgrade my minimal collection of tombstones. The wood burning tool and acetone were great tools. Just "carved" these this weekend. Have not yet painted or mudded. The wood burner lets you add some creativity. Although I have seen many ideas, I have to specially thank Terra who posted a lot of "how to" tutorials. I will share the finished product once complete.

Those look great! Very nice detail. You'll be addicted to making these so stock up on foam! I really like the Karloff stone with Frankenstein's face. Strong work!

Awesome work on these! The carving of Frank is a great touch and love the updated "I told you I was sick" epitaph - hilarious!

Can't tell from the pictures but are you using the new pink foam (it's a bit more purplish)? Been making a new stone now and noticed that I had to be a bit more aggressive with the acetone. Flinging it on just didn't penetrate now. Had to hold the brush in place until it got past the top skin.

Home Depot carries it. Lowes has a brand too but it's green now.

Yes, it is the pink/purple foam board from home depot. Funny your comment about the acetone. I had to be agressive on the pink board then was updating the other which is the old white board. I almost ate a hole in it with the acetone. I downloaded a "sketch" of frankenstein then then penned it on. I will also make one with Bela Lugosi with his picture. I can see how this becomes addicting.

Jacob, I bought mine in a large plywood size sheet at Home Depot for abotu $27. They also sell a thinner sheet that can be used for fake boards or wood effects. Try Lowes as well.

Great start on tombstones. I also like your etchings on Boris's stone. I managed to make 5 headstones using Terra's tutorial it is a wonderful step by step that gives the novice a beautiful finished product. Good work on these stones.
