After many years of fixing crappy foam gravestones from wind I am finally looking to make my own.Any suggestions?(Looking for something sturdy and more on the permanent side)
P.S. Walgreen and Party City just aren't cutting it.

My father made some out of wood over 20 years ago, we leave them outside all year long and they are still in great shape, the paints faded a little but that just adds to the effect

Put a thin plywood backing on them. That might help with the wind??

Check out this thread for some ideas/inspiration. A lot of members here make their own stones for the very reasons you mention. Foam still seems to be the medium of choice but you can make some nice sturdy monuments using it, along with other materials. Also check out the tutorial section as there are some nice instructions on how to make realistic markers.

I am actually working on ones right now out of wood. We are going to sand, paint, and texture them. My wife came across some designs, and so far we got nine cut.
