I just got an idea for what I believe could be a pretty easy animated prop... The classic skeleton in a cage only I was thinking of animating the whole thing simply my inserting a small motor with a misbalanced disk installed in the center of the cage to make it jump around. I am thinking that the skelly in the middle could be just bungee cords stretched in a big X with the motor at the center of the X... I think I may need to draw an illustration in order to clarify!

Sounds like it would work. Or mount the unbalaced motor on the skeleton itself. That should shake the skeleton AND the cage.

That is prettey much my idea. I think it would take some experimentation because there will be an tendency for the entire cage to spin like a top that is off balance so the motor would need to be just the right (slow) speed. I just came across an old fan that I think will work nicely.

Could you hang the cage using two or more ropes (one from two or more top corners) to keep it from spinning around?
Good luck with the build!

Great point! I think it will take some experimentation.
