+1. Blindfold participants and have another party watch. The board will spell gibberish.

I made a "haunted Ouija Board" by gluing powerful rare earth magnets under the planchette's feet. I then glued more magnets all around the bottom of the board, being careful to reverse the polarity on some. That way, if nudged by a guest the magnets would either attract or repel the planchette, sometimes causing it to flip over. It was a blast. I know it is only a board game so I figured it would be harmless fun.

One guest was quite religious and the board freaked him out. I convinced him to give it a try. He moved it and the planchette flipped over when the magnets repelled each other. By pure coincidence...I hope...a plastic shelf bracket broke in the kitchen cabinet five feet behind us, causing a shelf full of crystal stemware to crash down on the stemware below it. It was very loud and made a huge mess. The poor guy got so scared he and his wife left right away.

Even though I know it is a harmless board game, I was freaked out enough by that strange "coincidence" to throw the game away the next day. We have had no unexplained occurrences in our house since then.

So....I guess this is a good time to ask how to make an Ouija Board prop in which the planchette moves on its own? :P

I saw the thread title, and without even opening it I thought "Oh hell YES I'm making that!"

And then I read the thread. And the part about the magnets. And I thought Oh hell YES I'm making that too! :P

Haha yeah! I really want to make one for my High School's Haunted Walk. The theme is like "fears" and I know people who are terrified of Ouija Boards.... especially ones that move on their own :P

There's a few tutorial for animated boards in the tutorials section.
...somewhere in the north-woods darkness, a creature walks upright.
And the best advice you may ever get is never to go out…at night.
