So I do not have a ground fogger and want to buy one this year (on a budget like everyone else), I have been reading the recent post on here about fog machines, well this year my stepson has a job a Spirits halloween and he gets 25% off. the spirits ground fogger is 70$ and if I use his discount I would get in for 52$ is it worth it or should I save my money?

The basic fundamental of ground fog is that it has to be colder than the ambient air. If your Halloweens are really cold, then you won't get much bang for the buck on the ground fogger.

As for the ground fogger it self.....see if they are running one in the store..that is where they'll get the best results. So if it doesn't look good there, you will be really disappointed at home.

Well on a funny note.... I bought a fog machine at walmart a few years ago. The picture showed that it was low lying fog. I decided to play with it in the house, I kept holding the button as the fog was not falling to the ground. I figured maybe it just needed to build up (I had a few drinks so my thoughts were not planned out well). My wife came out of the shower and didn't know what the heck was going on as I filled the house up LOL.

party city has the same ground fogger for about 50 bucks! I got it last year and was very disappointed and took it back. It's only a 400 watt your better off getting the 1000 watt for 55 bucks.. It only works good in its used indoor outside it blows! you can always get the 1000 watt fogger and make the ice chiller thats works much better plus you get more fogg too

Is that one of those 400 watt ones with the tiny metal cage for ice in front of the nozzle? Ugh. No, they don't work. Save for a decent (700W or better) fog machine and read all the fog cooler ideas on the board.

I bought a 1000 watt one from Spirit last year and it was wayy to windy last year and the fog went everywhere. This year I am making a fog chiller and using froggy's low fog juice. That juice is thicker and is supposed to hang low. I figure that between these two things I will have the effect I am looking for.

    Fog chiller question
Is anyone thinking of making a Fog Chiller?
    fog chiller??? for cold weather
(do a search for "fog chiller" and you'll get LOTS of threads...

And like Scatterbrains said, if you have near freezing temperatures outside during Halloween, you're not going to get much in the way of ground fog. Cold air sinks, warm air rises. Unless you can super chill the fog to below the temperature outside, then it's still going to rise when it hits the air.

Fog machines work by heating up the fog juice and then forcing the heated mist out through a nozzle to cause a REALLY fine spray.

Generally, chillers are tubes that are packed into a garbage can, a cooler or other container, packed around the tubes with ice or dry ice, and then the fog machine sprays into on one end, coming out the end of the tubing much cooler than it went end due both to the distance it traveled in the cold tubing AND the ice packed in around it. BUT if you're fighting a really cold ambient air temp as well, it won't do much good.
