Just a heads up for folks looking for a weathered wood look for your coffin, crate, doors, etc., take a look at the RustOleum Sunbleached stain. I found it at Lowe's while looking for ideas for a "been-in-the-ground" toe pincher I'm going to build to place my corpsed GR skelly into. I bought a treated 6" treated rough-cut fence board ($1.29) and a quart of the stain ($8) for testing. I applied the stain in various concentrations in patches along the board and found that a quick, almost dry brushing, followed by a vigorous wiping gave the best results. The gold-green grain, and brown knots of the treated board melded together with the stain (which is essentially light gray). It's definitely the look I was hoping to achieve.

(Disclaimer: I do not work for the RustOleum Corp. nor have any interest in it. Same for Lowe's too.)

I did, and was going to post them, but the subtleties didn't really show. I finally just flipped the board over and finished the back side as I described. I am going to pick up the remaining lumber tomorrow and will post a side-by-side picture of before and after.
