This is the first real haunt that I have attempted and I'm beginning to get bogged down in details! I am building chicken wire ghost that will be draped with cheesecloth. I don't know whether or not to hang LED lights on the inside of the chicken wire or to use blacklight spotlights to illuminate them. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks once again!

Soak your cheesecloth in RIT whitener. Then just have your ghosts under blacklight. Looks fantastic. Check out FCG (flying crank ghosts) videos on youtube to get an idea of how they look.

What is the brand of a true good black light. I'm having trouble finding one. Thanks.

Wow! That is a fantastic effect! Puts my friendly, happy little ghosts to shame....lol.
Thanks for all the great suggestions. Whitening the cheese cloth is something I wouldn't have thought of.
I agree with Spooktacular about finding lighting. It's really hard to find true blacklights where I am and not sure what to go with.

You can find blacklights almost anywhere. You can purchase 48" tubes from Lowes/Home Depot plus a shop light or you can simply buy one from Spirit.

Keep in mind that although blacklights come in many different forms; incandescent, LED, etc. ...the amount of effect you will get is much greater from fluorescent. I replaced my incandescent bulbs with fluorescent because I was so unhappy with them.

For the money, the flourescent bulbs provide the best "glow" effect. They work great in places where you can hide the fixture near the prop you want to illuminate. We used to use a fluorescent to light our flying crank ghost for years, but we didn't have a good way to mount the fixture close to the prop. We never got it to really glow like we wanted. Last year we purchased a PAR 38 UV LED light from cheaplights.com. This worked much better than the fluorescent, mostly because we could aim it from a pretty good distance and still get that nice UV glow.
