This is the first year I want to try ground fog. I already have a couple of std foggers so w/out breaking the bank am I better off using a fog chiller w/my std foggers or buying new ground foggers (and is special ground-fog juice really superior to std fog juice)?
Thx!...

Hi there,
If you are doing a ground cover the best way is to build a ground frogger chiller..Its real easy and buy froggys fog..You just need to make sure you keep it nice and cold and water the area before you fog and it should work nice a good..You can find tons of stuff on here to build chillers and on youtube. I built two last year and they worked great and we had temps in the high 80's in texas the night of the haunt..
Thanks,
Brian

Ditto to what Brian said. I went to Froggys from regular and saw a drastic change in how it stayed on the ground and a chiller was super simple.

I use froggys with two chillers on two fairly weak fog machines. I place them on each side of my yard that way the wind does not make me pull my hair out and there is some fog in my graveyard at almost ALL times. Set the timers a few minutes apart so one is working while the other warms up.

[QUOTE=Brainfrt) ....and water the area before you fog

Had not heard this before. For clarification, does this mean that you should water the ground (i.e. with a water sprinkler)?

On a related topic, and my apologies for the ignorance on the subject, but Im contemplating adding a fog machine and having it in my front yard, obscured near a bush to pump out fog into what is (hopefully) my very nice graveyard.
Question is: can someone elaborate on regular fog machine VS ground fog? Is there a primer or tutorial of sorts that I can refer to? I'm interested in geenral yield on fog juice volume, the kind of space it'll cover and wattage.
Thanks gang...

You can answer all of these questions by using the search tool in this forum. These are old questions and there are many conversations on these topics and some are many pages in length. This seems to be a topic that a lot of new members ask every couple of weeks. Your best bet is to search the forum for fog chillers, fog machine and fog juice. I know there was a recent thread on the best fog juice and fog chiller to use, and I know these will answer all questions you might have. Fog is a popular subject on this site and you shouldn't have a problem finding answers using the search.
O, and watering your fog area, just like you would water your lawn, really does help the fog "hug" the ground better. Def recommended!

You want something in the order of 700 watts at a minimum to start, preferably something in excess of 1000 watts. The greater wattage will help with the 'recharge' time between fog bursts. You do not need to buy a ground fog machine, IMO its better to get a good 'standard' machine and couple it with a fog chiller. I've tried many different types of chilling and my favorite method is to get a 10-20 foot 4" PVC/ABS pipe, drill 4-5 1/2" holes in it and FILL the whole thing with ICE. Cap one end of the pipe with a PVC cap and the other end with a reducer that would take the 4" down to something just slightly bigger then the nozzle of the machine.

I agree with everyone else. Froggys and the old ice chest / dryer hose fog chiller. Made all the difference in the world.
