Hi all, I'm looking for some inspiration. I'd like to have "something" continuously appear/disappear/reappear in our main front window. I could always do a Peppers ghost setup but I need something that is pretty visually strong as the street is quite far from our house and folks may not see just a reflected image. I was wondering if anyone has seen (or built) anything based on an electrical system, or some other kind of setup that I might use. Pneumatics are out since it will be inside running for a few hours every night for a few weeks and that will drive me crazy. I also already have a projector and a TV running animations in two other windows so I think that option is out as well. Any ideas? Thanks!

Have you seen any of the Big Scream TV stuff? They are nice and bright and super easy set up. If you have a fairly large window you could do the Terror Eyes one with 2 tv's.

How about a FCG (Flying Crank Ghost). you can set it up in the window and have a black light fade in and out to make it look like its appearing/disappear/reappear in your window.

Simple wiper motor with a head on it would work just fine. To build simple think of the motion of a piston in a car.

You could set up something like the mechanism for a peeping tombstone something like this in the window:

There are other holidays besides Halloween? When did they start that?

Thanks all. I think I'll go w/ the wiper motor piston idea given the space. The eye idea is great too but we already have a Hallowindow giant eye in one of our other windows (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D590lt0IS64)

EricVW, Good choice, I really like mine. Here is a video of it. I smoothed out the motion by simply spraying WD40 on the pole! Worked great all night.
