OK here is one my uncle was telling about. HE IS IN HIS SIXTIES SO YOU CAN FIGURE OUT ABOUT WHEN THIS MIGHT HAVE TAKEN PLACE
When he was a young man he made a UFO he made the shape and ribs for one with dowel rods and then placed trash bags filled with helium in side. He covered it in tin foil and oops well it got away from him and the wind took toward Oak Ridge. In case you don't know your history; it's in Tennessee. He said was only just out of sight when the jets came flying over heading in the same direction. LOLOL
There are some really good ideas here.
I would have suggested a couple kiddie pools (or even a couple of those turtle sandbox covers (parents know what I mean)) and tape them together opposite each other to get the saucer shape you need. Either that, or grab four saucer sleds and make two identical saucers with clear-ish plastic tubs for the domes. One could be crashed, one could be landed as if to help the other.
After we've done the zombie theme for a few years, I plan on switching over to an alien theme and will probably build a spaceship too. This picture is an artists rendition of the very famous "Phoenix Lights," when literally thousands of people witnessed an object that looked like this flying over the busy city of Phoenix. This is not only one of the largest ufo sightings, but also one of the most recognizable "spacecrafts" out there. I personally think this would be a lot easier to build than a dome shaped craft, and MANY parents and kids will know exactly what this is supposed to be because this is also a very similar design to what people report around the world even today. Build it big and throw it in a tree!
