I want to make "Thing" from the Adams Family Show. Anybody have any ideas? I want it to have a life size hand.

Dollar Tree has hands. You could take one apart, cut off the blood stump part and cut the fingers at the joints and reglue them at more correct angles and then fill the hand with something like great stuff (cleaning up the overflow so it's nice and smooth at the wrist. And then repaint with paint that would work on plastic... that's what I'd try at first since it's a cheap option.

Gemmy periodically reissues their walking hand item. The last version looked like a Frankenstein hand, green with scars. You could easily paint it with flexible flesh-colored paint, and find (or build) an appropriate box. You could even rig up a "pop-up" suprise. Install a slow moving motor with an offest cam. Cut a wedge out of the cam so that when a lever gets to the wedge the hand pops up and the lid opens. Fingers moving, the cam rotates and the hand slowly retracts into the box.
