I want to build a dot room. Saw on Wildfirefx.com they sell a wall paper that reflects black lites. Will these work good for a dot room or should I buy the paint instead?

I never knew they sold wallpaper! That would be awesome for an alien theme. I wouldn't go to the expense.
My "dot" room was a HUGE success last year. I bought white masks from oriental trading. I scuffed them up with some sandpaper and put a base coast of Kilz on them. Then I took wildfire paint of blue, red, yellow, and green. Then I just safety pinned them to the walls and ceiling. I had my son dressed in a black reaper costume. He had one of the masks on and would stand in a corner and walk towards the TOT. He would change positions and sometimes sit and sway back and forth. Very effective and easy scare.

Do a google search for wildfire paint. There are several sites to buy it now and Blacklight does price match.

I just watch Terra's 3D method. Using the white base and black sheets or landscape fabric makes for one awesome dot room. I knew I was going to use them again so I made mine with sheets BUT if you think this will be a one time deal wallpaper should work.

Ok I have a hall 8 ft tall, 7 ft wide and 35 ft long. Made out of plywood and painted black. What is the fastest and easiest way to make my dot room. Didn't want to spend days painting dots on walls if another way is faster than with a brush etc. Thanks

Get an assorted pack of fluorescent paper and some circle punches from the scrapbooking section. Glue stick or double sided tape, removable if you want it removable.
Neon labels?

If you can find smaller circle punches than 3/4" (not easy to find) you could buy the labels and punch smaller ones for variety.

"Dot Rooms" don't NEED to be actual dots.
I've seen them done with just about everything from glow in the dark bugs to flinging paint on the wall randomly with brushes. The trick is just to have the actor(s) done the same so they blend in.
Cans of fluorescent spray paint could make 'dots' in a hurry, for instance. If you want perfect dots, you could make a simple cutout from cardboard even.
IMO, the BEST 'dot rooms' are the ones that break the dimensions, however. Masks on the wall, hanging from fishing line, so they are everywhere, for example. the hanging ones even move back and forth...real easy to hide an actor in there with a mask...not neccessarily on their head, even, on their hands...
In fact the favorite one i've been to did that with glow in the dark hockey masks...and NO blacklight. Just darkness. They had a regular lighbulb "pulse" on for a second every minute or so. Just enough to recharge the masks..Last edited by UnOrthodOx; 08-30-2011 at 11:15 AM.
