I haven't read a whole lot about this prop. The YouTube video looks like it might be a sleeper. I would use it without fog; just flood or spot lighted. Seems kind of twitchy. It doesn't have sound or lighted eyes, which is just fine. I plan on having a Demonica across the graveyard anyhow, along with other audio and visual effects.

I got that one locally last year. These props are very popular in local stores. May want to wait if you have local halloween stores by you. It's a simple frame that was actually a pain to put together. I even labled the pieces to make it easier this year. Weird frame. Simple deer motor turns the head. I used mine without a fogger, in a barrel. I think there's some pics in my sig links. I really like this guy. Life size head and hands- a life size prop really. He quickly became a favorite. I had him going all the time indoors until I put him out halloween night. Fog would be cool too. Only thing though- 60 bucks is high. It's more fair at 30 or 35. 40 tops. But 60 + shipping? No- there's not enough to this prop to warrant that much money.

Maybe I will wait to see if any of the stores carry it and demo it. Spirit, Halloween Express and Halloween City all open several stores here. One of them is bound to have it or something similar.

Yes they will. They carry them. Good luck.

Last year many of you purchased the Fuming Rotter Animated zombie fogger from Spirit.
Link ----------> here

And the consensus seemed to be that this thing is EXTREMELY fragile, but looks pretty cool in action. The video on the spirit site shows that this particular animated fogger is different from others in that you can see that the head actually dips as it goes from side to side (left to right). Most other fog accessories like this just turn left to right on the horizontal axis. I like how this one looks, at least in the video. However, spirit also has another fuming zombie fog accessory.

I think this "Gaseous Zombie" is brand new for 2011, but I like the way it looks better than the other one (Fuming Rotter). However, it seems this gaseous zombie only moves from side to side in a less realistic manner (same as the wretched reaper). So the gaseous zombie seems to have better detail but worse animation.
I know you can see videos of these items on the website. But these are not as good as in-person observation. So my question is, has anyone seen both of these in action? If so, does one look better than the other?

I have the fume rotter as well, the frame is flimsy, but the looks of him is really creepy. I had to reinforce him stronger though, and I did use a fogger, the effect is awesome, lots of comments thinking he looks so real.

They ALL have only head sway from side to side. Any dipping and deviation in movement is caused by the rather weak frame the deer motor is attached to. It may work well and then an hour or so in the head may start dipping. The extra shimmy or dipping does add to a little more realism, but it is not part of the design by default. I like mine, I really do. And I don't hook fog up to him. Just one more cool animated guy to have. But I would NEVER pay such a high price. This prop falls into the category of insane markup. It's nowhere near worth such a high price tag for it in terms of materials and motion, IMO. A few props are in the category of insane price markup to me, that being this one and John Doe. But, if you must have it any cost you'll like them. I'd certainly try and get them on sale. Much too steep at regular price- IMO.

One thing I noticed with the Fuming Rotter is the twitch that he does. That's a sure sign of a binding linkage, and something I'm sure that contributes to their relatively short lifespan.

Shockwave and Raven: Thanks for your input! So that's actually fascinating. The motion that I like so much in the product video for the fuming rotter is actually evidence of how poorly constructed it is! I think I'll go with the gaseous zombie (better detail on the head) after coupon. I'm sure it's just as cheaply made as the fuming rotter.
