I have an idea that's been careening around this cavernous head of mine and was wondering what everybody thought about it.

I want to make a line of props for my yard haunt that instill some humour to go with the rest of the scares. Zombie professionals. A series of people that succumbed to the undead while at work. The first was a zombie plumber. I have a flower box along the front porch that's 3' long. I want to stand a zombie in coveralls (complete with clever name tag) behind this. Maybe he's holding a pipe wrench in one hand and somebody's limb in the other. In the flower box I could put a row of 3-4 plungers. One plunger, handle down (so that the plunger cup faces up and acts like a bowl) with some yummy squishy brains in the cup. Another plunger, handle up, with the cup suctioned to the top of a victim's head. Yet another plunger, handle down, with a skull in the cup. Or maybe a fake dog turd, just for the gross out factor. Maybe not. You get the idea.

    Zombie plumber ... "Drrraaiiinnnnsss"
    Zombie conductor .... "Trrrraaaiiiinnnnsss"
    Zombie pilot .... "Plllaaaannnesss"
    and so on

Maybe I place them throughout the haunt as a theme. Maybe I rotate them through the years. Maybe it's not as good an idea as what rattles in my head. What say you all?

Sounds like a fun idea. Take the plumber a step further with a more authentic prop. Instead of the flower box, get a couple of old toilets. You can find them scattered about, some already adorned with authentic "decorations."

The flower box is a fixed item of the house, but I could strategically place toilets at either end. Not sure about the second-hand "decorations" though! Blood and gore, no problem, but that ..... Eeewww

I love those suggestions! Bowling pins as clubs perhaps? I did think of veins, but really couldn't get past the vampire bit (zombie vampire??). Now a nurse .... that has huge potential! I'm still laughing about the weatherman! Post a board of a weather map behind him using biohazard symbols, symbols of limbs & brains, etc. to go with the rains. Too many ideas to rotate through them year after year. It'll have to be a whole career day!

I was recently talking to a neighbour down the road and it turns out he's a plumber! He loved the idea and offered to lend a hand, or at least some items I could use as props. A couple of "refreshing beverages" later and we came up with some (what we think are) pretty good ideas. The problem now is how I'm going to handle the competition for space between all the props. It seems like I've got a good half-dozen ideas to all go in the same spot! Now, about "antiquing" a prop toilet .....

Have all the different zombies say their different ".......aaaaains!!" words in sequence, then have the last zombie be a doctor, who says.....

    "....cerebelluuuuuuuuumms!!!"

    Kind of a non-sequiter .
