Does anybody have any great ideas for building a headless horseman prop? I've got a few that I'm banging around, and have the fine details worked out. It's really the main base that I'm contemplating, both in look and in structure. The sad part is that I won't be able to build him this year, but the upside is that it gives me lots of time to work it all out!
I tried a quick search but couldn't find what I was after. Any help you may be able to provide would be appreciated. Thanks

Wow! Just .... wow! That's extremely well done! Thanks for the input. I'm still torn between a stand alone and a horse mounted version. I was going to do a stand alone coming out from behind a bush near the porch, but I may now have a better spot to do a mounted version. Decisions decisions ...

I've been wanting to do a horseman for years, but I would only want him on horseback. I've found lots of horse statues, but they are either too expensive or the dreaded 11/1 syndrome kicks in and I have no place to store it during the off season.

I tried several times to create a realistic horse but each failed miserably. Finally settled on a a pvc, old door screen and great stuff foam carved man instead. He hides in the trees near a tombstone for him as a soldier.

Thanks for the link trentsketch. It looks like a great way to set up the man, wonder how well the same method would work on the horse ...
That's a good looking horseman you've got there mmully. Well done!
I talked to somebody today that could actually get me a real horse skeleton! They use them for teaching up and coming veterinarians. That would certainly lend some authenticity to the prop! Just one, or maybe several, problems:
1) How would I transport it? I don't have a truck or a trailer.
2) Where would I store it? That skeleton's a puzzle I really don't want to reassemble! I don't have a barn/garage/extra dimension to store it in. Mind you, at this rate I'm going to need a barn to store all the props anyway!
3) It might actually be too big for my tiny front lawn!
