I'm planning on using the severed fingers I got from the Dollar Tree for my butcher section of my yard haunt.
I was thinking of sticking some of the severed fingers in a tall glass jar for display on a table. However, simple clear glass doesn't seem effective:

^That's not my picture, but you get the idea.
What would be the best way to condition the jar or make it look old/used? Is staining clear glass possible? Would adding water make it look more effective?
Thanks for your ideas!

I saw the exact same fingers 2 days ago but didn't buy them at the time...
I would say you could tint the water a color. Yellow, green? Adds a disgust factor. Almost like an old specimen jar that has discolored due to the fingers being in the jar for so long. Literally a drop or 2 of each color would be enough and mix it up well in the water or whatever you use.
You could also take some corn syrup (just used some tonight for the first time - used the dark colored) and dribble it over the fingers in the jar to make them look "fresh", or tint it darker with a red and green food coloring. No idea how it would turn out but could be interesting.
I am doing jars right now and coming up with ideas is harder then I thought, partially because sticking things in a jar isnt as effective as I thought it would be so I have to start being creative.

I had some scattered on a plate with my food as well, labeled "finger food". In the jar I just use food coloring, looks great. For the jars I just paint the lids black, let dry, dry brush with rust color and seal with mod podge or something similar. There are lots of tutorials on here for jars. Tons of GREAT stuff. Have fun!!

I added a few drops of food coloring, and some coffee grounds, and sometimes a few shakes of something like parsley. The coffee and herb looks like dirt/particles in the water and the food coloring wasnt a pure color. I would do a small drop of red, regular drop of yellow and maybe just a tiny tiny bit of blue or green to get a murky color.
Aging the outside of the bottles is easy - I used regular school glue and a tiny bit of paint or food coloring to dirty it up. Smear it onto the jar, use your bare hands to leave handprints and fingerprints and let it dry. It's fun to experiement to get the best grungy look.
Bonus - it all is easy to take off and start over if you mess it up, or want to store it.I'm a Halloween Bride! 10/31/2002
