I need a sound effect/mp3 player/controller to where it plays my sound effect when its triggered but then it resets back to the beginning of the sound effect once its done. I have the trigger and the sound system, just not sure what player/controller will help me play it and then reset it back to the beginning to be played again once triggered. Please help!!

I would use a PicaBoo Controler with sound. The l04 and 105 work great. You can find them at Frightprops.com and Frightideas.com

I've used the PicoBoo controllers and they're excellent but if you don't need to turn things on and off it's overkill.

I purchased the CAP players and recorder player 2 years ago and they work great. You have to start with a recorder player so this would be what you need to get started:

This year I purchased 3 of these little beauties but I haven't had a chance to try them out just yet. Others have used them and are satisfied.

There are even more options than just these. I'm sure others will have some suggestions.

What's nice about these audio boards is that they can be made to work with my older Hauntmaster prop controllers that don't have integrated sound. They can also be used where other prop triggering is not needed, as in you just want sound or have a talking skull that just needs an audio source.
    Boo!

Looks like I'm going to go with the Cowlacious boards. How was the sound quality out of them? The sound clips I'm going to use are only like 20 seconds long so I'm going to have it set at the highest quality, 12Khz I think it was. Plan on running the sound out to a stereo system. Thanks for the ideas!

I've used the ISD Chipcorders for a long time, and even at 12Khz they're a bit scratchy. They're very dependent on the volume of the input signal when you record the sound but you can get a pretty good playback after a bit of tinkering. The Electronics123 site has 2 or 3 sound recorder options. I haven't worked with any of those boards (yet) but Halstaff (HF member) is very well-versed in how to use those boards.
    I...have many names...

Hey Ken we just released a new MP3 player board that might help. It plays MP3 audio files from a microSD card and the audio quality is excellent. It can play one track or many and choose tracks randomly or sequentially and it will always play the full track. It will accept any high-level DC signal as a trigger between 3.3V and 12V and it has an adjustable delay timer to prevent constant triggers. Its only $50 and requires a 5V DC supply, and if you want more details you can see it here.

    Thanks for the link.

I am working the budget angle on this one however.

It is hard to beat $11 plus the heat sensor.

The 50 dollar item is cool, but I need my prop $$ going to the yard.

I have several of these units, very easy to setup and very easy to use. I use a mat switch to trigger some and others I just leave on loop. I have some hooked up to small powered speakers and others I just use the included small speaker.
Price is right and they work great.

Thanks Azdude. Looks like something I might be interested in as its everything I need in one unit. Just need to see if it will fit my budget after including the PIR sensor/cable and the power. Thanks for posting! If not this year, I'm sure I'll find it in the budget next year!
