Hi All,
I have a question for those of you that have made a laser vortex. I complete mine using a power supply fan and I found that the fan pulls the fog towards it. It's a cool effect, but I think I'm losing some of the outer effect because of this. I was thinking of cutting off the fan blades, but not sure if this will work better or worse. Any feedback would be great
Thanks!!

If you go to radio shack you can get a low voltage dc hobby motor for a couple bucks. Works perfect...and is without a doubt worth the price. Good luck! It's a great effect!

Cutting the blades off will affect the fan's balance, probably causing it to shake, and maybe make some noise too. Not sure this would be a good idea on a fan that spins that fast. Your vortex will def be affected by this too

you can reduce the size of the blades, equally this shouldn't affect the balance to much but reduce the air moved

Hi All,
For those interested, I used a dremel to remove the fan blades and it seems to work much better. The fog is no longer pulled into the fan which allows for more of an effect further away from the fan. This is such an awesome prop and I would recommend it for any holloween haunt.
