I have an old Halloween light I wanted to use in my yard display but, it's special to me and very fragile so...I built a "holder" for it. I cut the lights shape out in foam, cut a piece of ply-wood, and hot glued the foam to the wood. A little black paint and now I have a light which I believe will survive the outside. I also screwed a couple of wire clamps to the back so I can stake it down. What ya think?

Not to be a downer but if it has sentimental value, why would you put it in your yard and expose it to all the hazards that could happen?......Not sure how valuable it is to you so ask yourself, If something happens to this and I lose it, will I be OK and not too bummed out about it....If the answer is yeah then go ahead and put it out but if the answer is no then display it on a shelf/wall INSIDE your home so you can enjoy it for years to come.....You could also put it in a window but the sun will probably fade it out....Now on to the construction.....You did a great job reinforcing it and looks like a job well done...I would be a little concerned if the light is incandescent because it will give off heat which could melt your plastic or catch the foam on fire, especially if it's confined inside the foam/plywood with no way for the heat to escape....This would be a great application of LED lighting because it doesn't give off nearly as much heat.....Cool looking display....ZR

I love that kind of old-school decoration! Great job on the reinforcement.

I guess I could display it inside or in the garage but I want it out so everyone can see it better and enjoy it as much as I do. If I lose it...O'well so be it... at least I displayed it.

Nice job on the build. I love retro stuff. My neighbor has a big plastic light up pumpkin he puts on his steps. It's the only decoration he puts out for Halloween but I still love it. It has the TOT welcoming look to it.
Since it has sentimental value put on more layers of foam until it's recessed and then a sheet of plexiglass over it for protection. It's overkill but it might save it from vandals which would really suck.Boo!
