Last year one of my wheels for my flying ghost was mounted to a lamp pole (city owned). This year I was wanting to use a conduit pole as described by others...I went to Home Depot and the longest available was 10'...is there a better source for longer poles or will connecting two poles together be sturdy enough. Thanks

My limited experience with the axeworthy (one year) is that the tension on the line needed to keep it from falling off the pulleys will bend standard thin walled conduit, especially if it is a length over 10'. Is there a reason why you don't want to use the city lamp poles? I use two tall palm trees and a city light pole. Very sturdy! Just my 2 cents.
    Shhhh. Wait. What was that?

The distance between wheels is a little longer than I like so it causes a slight sag when the ghost is midway between points...maybe I'll play with the tension as suggested...Eventually I'd like to change up the path which is why I was considering the metal conduit poles instead of a 4x4. I guess if it aint broke...

    Along the conduit idea...

I f you can find one of those telescoping birdhouse poles, you can set it to whatever height you'd like (within reason). They are made of four different diameters of nesting thin-walled conduit, with set screws for each section. You may still need to put guy wires down in two directions to brace the pole, unless you are not averse to setting the pole in concrete.

Thanks Ron...I guess I could add the additional conduit and then slide a slightly smaller diameter conduit into the first for added support...good idea

You may want to try black pipe. Its a lot heaver and threaded at both ends. It'll cost more but should be way sturdier

On my axworthy, two pulleys and the motor are mounted on the house. But one pulley is mounted on an arm I bolt onto the mailbox pole. I brace that arm with a pole that comes forward. The triangle is your friend. I use a spring tensioned arm to keep the line taut.

Use a rain tight coupling and tighten it with channel locks or vise grips, it will be sturdy
