I would like to add sound to some of my props. My thought is to have each prop talk a little (no moving jaws, just the sound). I did a search and seen several methods: mini MP3, sound boards, etc. What do you like and why? Also how about speakers, any reccomendations? Any help would be appriciated. Thanks.

I've struggles with this for the last few years also. Mostly we have just used cd players in each room or at each prop. Props that we use controllers with have the sound board in the controller. This year I bought 4 mp3 players and found cheap powered computer speakers.
I also bought some plug adapters that connect to the usb cable from the mp3 player this will power the mp3 without running down the battery. The cheap powered computer speakers I bought are not the best sound quality but at around $5 per set.... I guess I cant expect greatness!

Depends on your set-up really. I like the Cowlacious boards when using controllers. Forum member Halstaff recently posted a thread on a super cheap digital sound recorder/player he found. These device would require powered speakers. For simplicity, the Picoboo controllers combine sound into the prop controller and recent models include amplifiers. Best sound comes from enclosed speakers.
And for great sounds I just discovered forum member Dark Lord's huge archive of sounds and effects, which he will allow you to access if you ask nicely
Nostalgia isn't what it used to be...
