That's a great technique. I really like it - great post.

I wonder if you could do it with the heat-dryer activated basket shrink wrap. You get 9ft by 5ft of the stuff for $4 or $5 at the craft store and you don't need a heat gun to use it. My one concern would be if that stuff would take the stain and paint or just slosh around and bubble until it all falls off. Could be fun to experiment with.

I don't want to sound like a kill joy but it's my experience that stain and paint won"t stay on plastic very long....it flakes off.
A good test to do on this would be to take a small section of the plastic drop cloth and put some paint and stain on it and put it in the sun to dry. Once it drys shake it and see if you get flakes and you could also use a water hose to simulate rain.

Thanks for the post. I really like Allen's technique.
Half the struggle with creating props are
1. The cost of materials. Making a corpse out of anything can cost a few bucks.
2. The waiting and the drying time of these materials.
I use a heat gun and glue gun a lot because of the short drying times. I used to use a heat gun on foam board. But I cut that out because concerns of how healthy it is. Anytime you are melting plastic you can be giving off hazardous vapors. I didn't catch if he said he normally wears a mask. But I think it would be a good idea.To avoid criticism say nothing, do nothing, be nothing. Aristotle
