My husband and I are trying to figure out how to get a large area of our side yard covered in a consistent low lying fog. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks!

Fog machine + good fog juice (say froggy's swamp juice) + fog chiller = good, lasting ground fog.

A good quality large / high out put fogger......... just pends on how large of an area your trying to cover & if you have any moving air that will take away or make you have to fog more often to keep the ground covered.......

There have been a few good threads on this with chillers & a 50/50 mix dry ice & reg ice, salts, a flat trash bag at the end of exit hose of chiller to help spread it out on the ground, long tubes with holes & frozen water bottles to get a good stretch of fog across a graveyard,....etc. Of course each has found they're own best / favorite methods.

& ay yes good'ol Froggies swamp juice ! I love the stuff

Check out the setup I put together last year:

So long as it's not windy, this should work. Craigslist a cooler, Home Depot or Lows for most other parts.

Don't forget to take into account the ambient air temperature. If you live in a place where the outside air temp is cold/freezing, then cooling the fog enough to be colder than the air itself is going to be a pretty big problem. The fog chiller is so that the heated fog juice will be cooler than the air, and cold air sinks. If you can't cool the air enough to be colder than your air, then you won't get good ground fog.

Also, any bit of wind will destroy fog. If it's a windy night, you're probably not going to get any decent fog to linger at all, let alone ground fog.

Where I live, temps at Halloween average around 70 degrees, so cooling fog below that isn't a problem... if you live where the temps are chilly, that will be a problem.
