Well, awhile back I purchased a few things to make me a mad scientist panel. I bought this:

    And these:

I disassembled them for parts and then came up with an idea. I built a panel out of 1/4" luaun plywood and some 2X2s. I stained it with some wood stain then applied a shiny spray lacquer. I cut out openings for the black gauge and the outlet first because of their difficult outline. Here's a pic of just the panel...and Mrs. Terror Tom goofing around.

I then fastened all the gauges and the bits and pieces together and got this:

I wired the gauges to the panel after drilling a few holes. And this is the back of the finished panel:

Tell me what y'all think. I just saw that I misspelled "Gauge" in the title.... EDIT-Fixed the title. Thanks, Ghost of Spookie!

Looks good! If you don't care about the temp/barometer gauges (assume that's what they are), I'd suggest seeing if you could take the gauges apart and add a slow spinning motor to them. Gauges with moving dials are always more Flashy. Any backlighting to them might also add to the scene. Nice job mounting everything.

BTW if you still have edit privileges to your post (not sure how many days afterwards it disappears), you can edit your thread/post title by clicking on edit and then Go Advanced. Go Advanced will give you access to the title area.

Looks great. A few random pulsating lights would be a great effect.

    Looks excellent!
I want to do a panel similar to yours and use it as a control panel for my electric chair.
I've already saved a bunch of parts, I just need to find the time to do it!

I like it! Looks good. I might add a frame to the panel so it looks more like a finished box. A few lights would be nice, and (as Ghost of Spookie suggested) you could take apart a guage or two and put in the workings from a clock, so the dial would spin (second hand).
