I am a beginner and tech challenged. So I need very detailed info if anyone has the time. We want to have lightning flashes in our haunt that flash when the thunder rumbles. The sounds will be on a cd played by a lap top. We have regular plug in and battery operated strobe lights. We are also going to have string rope lights and black lights around the haunt. How do I accomplish this effect if all of our lighting is 110v and battery operated? Are there other lights we need to get to accomplish this? As I said--I am totally wiring stupid--hubby is the expert where this is concerned--But if anyone can give me some detailed instructions as to how to do this I would appreciate it! Thanks!

here's what I'm going to do to make lightning & thunder: I'm going to get in my car, drive to BigLots, purchase a lightning & thunder machine, bring it home, plug it in. Pretty easy.

Here's a thread on merchandise found at BigLots; go to the first post; click on the next to the last pic (#0071, I think). That's a pic of BigLots thunder & lightning strobe.

Hope that helps.
And good luck.

Simply purchase a lightning simulator. I purchased the FireFly from lights-alive.com. I did some research and the reviews seem to be pretty good. There are other machines out there, but in talking with people that purchased the FireFly, they thought that it was the best machine available. My understanding with these machines is that they are basically plug and play. Simple to set up and operate. The battery powered strobe probably won't work. The lights have to be plugged into the lightning simulator. Make sure you buy a simulator that can handle the watts that you intend to run through it. Last thing you want is a blown box.
