Hi this is my first thread, I'm 14 going on 15, I LOVEEEEEE Halloween and have made numerous animatronicss, for 3 years now. This year's animatronic has been chosen: A sparking electric pole with a transformer. My ideas are to have a hidden welder remotely trigger and send small falling sparks. I also will have air whips coming out of the top of the transformer's insulators, and a strobe. Tell me what you think and also the welder will be away from people and hidden so it wont be bright. Thanks

Here's a link where a skilled forum member built some transformers: Electrical Transformers
I think everyone will tell you not to use the welder for a variety of safety reasons. Why not get one of the electronic firecrackers that have been discussed on here?

Thank you for the link! that's what I based my transformer on except i used a metal five gal. bucket. I know what u mean with the welder, but my dad is a skilled electrical and general contractor, He said it will be fine as long as we have it grounded right and hidden and cautioned off. yes, i saw the firecrackers, i personally think they're stupid, i want falling sparks like terra wanted. I am also putting in water landing for the welding sparks, I will do everything to make it safe, safety first right? Thanks for the input!!
