hey everyone. thanks for all the tutorials. I'm almost complete with my first prop of the summer. still need to corpsify the arm and bulk it up.
the fog chiller works ok, but if you have any improvement suggestion, feel free to voice your opinion.

Nice job! I love the arm! It was hard to tell by the vid but is your fog passing down through the ice or just over it? If it is just passing over it consider putting wire mesh under the ice and have the fog go down through the ice out the hole. I know it was hard to seal it up but the more air tight you caqn make the cooling chamber better the effect. If you already have wire mesh under disregard my rant. Nice work!

those ice "trays" are actually chicken wire mesh that's holding the ice above the surface. only thing i can do to get a tighter seal is find something really small and heavy to place on the corners. other than lead weights, not sure what else I can do.

I see that you are using a Shiatsu. Have you seen the tutorial on how to make the arm move in a sweeping motion? What you do is mount a tube to the Shiatsu arm and then have a larger tube with your arm attached to it slide over the smaller tube. Then you get some plastic plumbers tape and connect it to the vertical portion of your arm and attach the ends to the opposite side of the shiatsu base. As your arm is now able to rotate freely, as it as the shiatsu rotates in it's elliptical motion, the plumbers tape will pull on your arm and make it swing. So the effect will look like the arm is trying to grasp at people. I will try to find that tutorial for you.
I do think the arm needs to have more of a bend at the elbow as well. And maybe make the fingers of the hand a bit longer.
Nice job on the entire prop.

thanks spinman. I bent the arm at the elbow more right after i shot this video. I agree that the hand needs a bit more bulk to it. I've read the tutorial on the sweeping motion and I have it setup using plumbers tape. I can't have it do a full sweeping motion because there is only a finite amount of space that I want showing with the coffin slightly open. If I do the full sweeping motion, it needs about another inch or so of clearance. motion is really all want people want to see anyway

Man that's awesome! I agree with tweaking the arm a little, but other than that, it looks great!

I missed the plumbers tape the first time I viewed the video.
Face Red. !!!!
Seems to me you can add some sweep without having that much effect on the lid. But with the arm bent and the larger hand it will look awesome anyway.
I am currently working on a ground breaker using a shiatsu. I have machined two aluminum arms that are attached to the rotating shafts. From there I will provide movement to two arms and the head. Unfortunately a major house remodel honey do has my prop building on hold this week.

Why dont you just attach a plastic skeleton arm to the wire? It would look much better.

well... $22 for the arm + shipping or just build it for free? i would lean towards free. check out my corpsed arms I've done before. they look pretty good. Making some corpsed limbs (arms/hands/legs/feet) for a low cost
